Preserving the Role of the Professional Agent
Could you afford to lose your business? Could you go out tomorrow and start a new career?

If you answered "no" to one or both of these questions, then we've just taken away your arguments for not joining DCAHU. It doesn't matter how large or small your agency, we all have the same goal: To preserve the role of the professional agent.

By joining DCAHU, you get the knowledge that there are millions of people dedicated to preserving your place of business and income as much as you. When you look at it this way, isn't the $465 per year a small price to pay to preserve your livelihood?

It is important to realize that you are not just joining at the local level, but that you -now become a member of the state (CAHU) and national (NAHU) organizations with great power and leverage within political circles. Each year NAHU spends over $1 million to present your interests before Congress and regulatory agencies. Its members hold leadership positions in over a dozen D.C. based healthcare coalitions lobbying Congress on pertinent issues, employ an outstanding team of experienced professionals to ensure your needs come first, and has a grassroots network targeting federal and state legislators with information and lobbying materials in advance of significant legislative votes.

NAHU is regarded by many of Washington's power brokers as the definitive source on the health insurance industry and was privileged to have newly elected President Bush select a staff member to work on his "transition team". NAHU's Political Action Committee (PAC) contributed to nearly 200 legislators and candidates during the 2008 elections cycle.

The Desert Cities Association of Health Underwriters is honored to support the professional health insurance agents and brokers, and industry representatives of Riverside County. We are single-mindedly dedicated to preserving California's private, market-based healthcare system, and to promoting the agent's vital role in that system. Mandated health benefits. Medical coverage for the uninsurable. Legislative health insurance reforms. Continuing education requirements. New Products. Changing markets. Due diligence. Alternative marketing approaches. These are just a few of the critical issues facing every health insurance professional seeking to succeed in today's competitive market - and your participation in IEAHU and our events will greatly assist you in tracking these issues.

Monthly DCAHU Luncheon Meetings with CE Credits
DCAHU holds monthly luncheon meetings on the third Thursday of the month in Palm Desert at Villa Portofino Clubhouse (4001 Via Portofino, off Country Club Dr. between Monterrey and Portola),
with the exception of the summer months of July and August. These regularly scheduled meetings usually run from 11:30am to 1:30pm, and reservations are required - which you can easily do from the Calendar section of this website. Each meeting features a very informative guest speaker, usually offering Continuing Education credits included with the luncheon cost.  Note that occasional meetings provide 4 or 8 hours of CE Class Credit and so will run longer than normal luncheon meetings.

For our Palm Desert Luncheons, the Member cost is $30.00 w/RSVP; non-members $60.00 and Members w/o RSVP.

Luncheon meetings are only one of the many benefits of membership in DCAHU. Members also have the opportunity to participate in an on-going schedule of varied Continuing Education, social, and charitable events.

Annual Healthcare Summit
April brings our chapter's outstanding "Healthcare Summit", a day-long industry trade show featuring renowned keynote speakers, continuing education break-out sessions, along with the product display booths of over 40 vendors. Our Annual Charity Golf Tournament is held in September of each year, followed by our traditional Holiday Luncheon in December which always raise funds for a local charity.

As proud as DCAHU is of it's many continuing education and charitable activities, the chapter is also very proud to play a part in the vital legislative activities held by both the California and National Association of Health Underwriters.  DCAHU members regularly participate in annual legislative trips to Sacramento and Washington, D.C., as well as working to maintain an on-going dialogue on vital legislative issues with our local Inland Empire legislators via our "Adopt-A-Legislator" program. Our Chapter encourages all members to become "citizen lobbyists", and also to contribute generously to the CAHU-Political Action Committee.
